Our roses are of high quality, disease free, clean and healthy. They go through a series of quality checks before they are finally dispatched to the customer. We also ensure that the cool chain is strictly followed right from the harvesting time to dispatch, thus keeping the flowers fresh and long lasting.

Internally formulated standards at Rosebud have set out overall responsibilities for all management staff who can guide other employees on Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) including minimal use of pesticides and fertilizers, environment policy, social responsibility and staff welfare. To comply with this the farm undertakes frequent internal audits in order to identify and document any risk and prepare a time bound action plan. The overall objective is to reduce the pesticide usage while at the same time ensuring responsible and safe use of fertilizers and pesticides. This takes place within the guidelines set out in the company policy and statutory regulations. Application of pesticides is guided by scouting and identifying pests and disease pressures in all greenhouses.

Spot spraying with pesticides that are friendly to the environment as opposed to blanket spraying is practiced as far as possible. Accurate and timely uses of remedial measures in crop protection reduce the impact to the environment. All scouts undergo in-house training to enable them identify all the disease and pests found in cut flowers. Rosebud also applies the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) which helps in reducing pesticide usage. IPM is the use of beneficial insects in controlling other harmful and undesired pests found in greenhouse conditions.
We have a fully automated modern water pumping unit . Rosebud aims at reduced fertilizer use and better plant quality through the practice of hydroponic growing and other water conservation techniques. The irrigation system is fully computerized to ensure that only the required water and fertilizer is applied. Recycling of water also ensures no soil erosion and contamination hence preservation of our water catchment areas and the environment. We send our water samples for analysis to Europe every month. We are also NEMA (National Environment Management Association) certified and compliant. NEMA is the body that undertakes all environment regulation and enforcement in Uganda. We are also registered with Europe’s MPS certification scheme which is the most widely used standard across the flower industry.
