Staff welfare at Rosebud Ltd, Uganda

Rosebud values its employees and it is committed to continuous training and investment in personnel development. It has created direct employment to over 900 staff and supports tens of thousands indirectly in the form of dependants. We strive to empower women and they constitute over 60% of our employees. In addition our employees are given house allowances, medical care and other welfare facilities. Staff also have the use of a modern canteen where meals are free of charge.

The company endeavors to provide a safe, hygienic and healthy working environment by supplying to all employees’ adequate and appropriate protective equipment. Sprayers are tested and alternated with other field staff regularly to ensure their health is not compromised. They also undergo regular training and seminars sponsored by agrochemical companies and UFEA. We have modern shower rooms and toilet facilities for use by all staff which helps in maintaining a high standard of hygiene.
There is a clinic with a 9 bed capacity with a resident nurse and a visiting medical doctor to cater for all staff.

We also conduct HIV/AIDS awareness programmes in conjunction with USAID and will soon roll out an ARV distribution programmed for all staff. We will soon be offering voluntary testing and counseling. We have also been engaging in a bi-annual blood donation activity at the farm for the last 5 years.

Other ongoing developments include construction of a training and research center to equip all employees with necessary skills to further improve on the requisite ABC of producing quality export cut roses to meet the ever changing expectations of the consumers.

Our staff get paid directly through their bank and have the convenience of an ATM machine located on the farm.

We are also proud of both our football and netball teams which are built on the basics of winning and success through a healthy mind.

Rosebud also has plans to establish a nursery school to cater for the staff children as basic education foundation for the young.
